while sailing at kingston on the recent long weekend a young lad from melbourne set an australian speed record for kite buggies at 97.7 khp, he was aiming for 100 but didn't get there,,, anyway my question is this... is there a speed record for land yachts here in australia and the world for that matter,,,, yes i know about green bird and that record but what about for the smaller classes of yachts,, class 5's mini's class 3's and so on,, if there isn't i would like to propose that some sort of records be kept by someone to record national top speeds maybe even have a speed week like they do at bonniville.. I have in the past been involved with the dry lake racing assoc here in australia which is the body for speed attempts and keeping of the record books, so it would be an easy thing to do..... just a thought....

also while at the long weekend i saw one of the kite buggy guys with motor cross body armour, knee pads elbow pads and such which started me to thinking( not a good idea) just how much "protection" do you need,,,so my open question is..how much body protection do you think is enough or to much ???(it's just a bit of a fun question)
