I just want to get out on the lake and sail. Don't need to set any records right now. I'd just like to roll along a bit faster than a casual bicycle ride. Thanks for your patience with me. Most here seem caught up in what kind of bearing to use and how to wack up a sail. And I guess I'll have to learn how to convert metric to mph. I guess this hobby is both fun And educational, uh?

The wind speed thing... there is no magical number, on Asphalt will be totally different than for hard / soft sand, salt, dirt or even grass. Some yachts handle light conditions better than others, a lot depends on the sail and how its set up. You need lots of draft or belly in the sail by making the sail quite loose along the boom and using little or no down haul on the luff (front ) of the sail.
