Not how I read this - Navy Engineers couldn't fix problem & crew injured. Looks to me like they needed help. Thanks Melbourne.

"Having provided medical assistance to the Master, and unsuccessfully attempting to make repairs to the vessels steering gear system,Skylark III was eventually taken under tow by Melbourne's sea boat towards the Port of Bundaberg."

yep its a Swanson aft cockpit I was interested in buying it, it was sold about 7 months ago I don't think it was for sale for that long it was listed at 90k
It looked like a very good boat.with heaps of cruising gear it was located in bundaberg at time of sale so it doesn't seem to of travelled very far .
it would be interesting to know what actually went wrong as I own a aft cabin swanson now. I'm assuming the rudder was ok as they refer to "steering gear" not rudder , I wonder if it has a emergency tiller like my boat does.

Skylark is one of the best kept Swanson 38s ever. She was in the now defunct Burnett Heads Marina for about ten years and never went anywhere. The owner, I think David, was a lovely English guy who lived on board and drove the Toyota Coaster bus from Bundaberg to 1770 with passengers for the day trip boat to Lady Musgrave Island almost daily.

He got sick with cancer and put the boat on the market at around the $150,000 mark. The Seagulls' opinion was that it was probably worth that but in the current market would only sell around 60 to 80 k.

Dear David eventually succumbed and passed away and his daughter made the best of it and sold the boat for...????

I suspect the new owners are not completely au fait with yachts and are on a steep learning curve. The boat will learn them.
