Hi all!
I have been told my 6m knuckles sports boat has a no. 2 18 foot skiff rig on it. I trying to find out some measurements to find out if this is true. If someone could give me the details of a no. 2 18 rig or point me to the right area that would be great. The measurements I need are mast length, main luff and foot, jib luff and foot. Also if you have any 18 foot skiff sails or masts for sale let me know because if they fit my rig/boat I'm interested in buying gear for spares.
Thanks alot Berndty

Berndty,
Unfortunately they are not standardised. The rig sizes varied as the 18 footers went from 4 man to 3 man and narrowed then added large outriggers. So it all depends on how old your rig is. Have a look at 16 foot skiff as well. Sails to suit skiffs are regularly on eBay.
Just be aware the sail cut for skiffs is to suit bendy masts and trapezes. If your 6m boat does not employ the same masts and trapeze then the sail will not be as effective. Its not just about luff round, the pressure at the trapeze hounds is what is going to effect the leach. I've sailed a 6m trailer sailer with a 16foot skiff rig and it was difficult up wind. The leach of the main would not "open" early enough so the jib was luffing all the time. The boat has a new set of sails now cut to suit the vessel and its transformed.

thanks mate
Had a look at the 16's but the sails were to small. My mast is carbon with alot of bend adjustable with turn bolts on the forestay and side stays. Just to look at two boats "sporty and 18" they look like about the same bend in the masts. Another idear I had was geting a complete rig off a 18 and making some changes to suit my boat??? Just one of my freaky idears that I have floating in my head at the moment!!!
Thanks Berndty
