Interesting but the motion through the water looks anything but smooth. Way too much wetted area, severe lack of bridge deck clearance, lack of topside deck space too and then of course there is the aesthetics.

Darth Vader would however look right at home if you pulled the mast and it took to the air.

It was around a while ago and I have to say it's a horrible looking beast. The fact that it's in carbon yet they can't even trim the sails says it all, and the motion looks horrible.

Why on earth not just give it some longer hulls? There's a reason good boats look like they do.

I have owned tris, sailed tri and built tris and this thing is bloody awful. It looks like a bunch of first year industrial design students who have never seen a boat were let loose and given free reign for their ignorance. This boat violates pretty much all we know about good multihull design - a travesty.

Oh, but it has a water slide. Doesn't that count for anything?

That headsail is just atrocious! Should have spent some of that money on a decent sail.

Wow, this thing is not just ugly, but completely lacking in performance! 13 knots is certainly nothing to crow about, while pitching about & copping a drenching if there was any sort of sea. I missed the bit where he told the details of its motors, which are surely going to be its most important feature. Maybe should cover it with solar panels and go electric; couldn't look any worse!

This is the at the extreme end however there seems to be trend to make sailing boats less like sailing boats. At the boat show last year all the European production boats on show seemed to be trying as much as possible to hide minimalist sailing systems and provide wide open areas free of lines or any clutter, like hand holds etc, both above and below deck.

Euro 4,250,000.00 and gosh only 3 will be built then the moulds will be deconstructed..........expect #2 and #3 never will be and the moulds have already been deconstructed.

"The Hanstaiger X1 is a limited edition trimaran that will be produced in only 3 copies. The shipyard based in Alicante, Spain, even assures that it will deconstruct the hull molds"

"As spacious and, some would say, as beautiful as the Sistine Chapel".

No. No. No ... in every conceivable way.

I started to watch the video on my lunch break at work, and had to stop before I snorted my coffee through my nose.
