Hi all, currently on a long trip up to the Whitsundays and going to be stopping over in Sydney for a week or so to restock and recuperate. I know I'm going to pay through the nose for it but want to spend some of my time in a marina close in to the city for easy access to catch up with friends and enjoy some luxuries like a proper shower for a few days.

Not all the marinas seem to have prices available on line, can anyone advise on any good options for finding a guest berth? Preferably on the south side of the harbour. Guessing they'll be expensive but much difference between CYCA and D'Albora? Any others you'd recommend?

Did do a thread search but the one I found was years old so thought it worth another go.

Middle Harbour Yacht Club, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron both on the north side of the harbour.

If it was me, I'd spend a night or two at a club, get a shower and then have a look around the harbour. A night in Manly, a night up the river a bit near Gladesville and Birkenhead and then a few in the city close to the bridge. There is even a marina in Darling Harbour, though the restaurants can make it a noisy place to sleep, but you are in the thick of it.

Thanks for the tips. I'm thinking I will mix it up a bit, I have contacted CYCA to book a few nights there, also may have a lead on a mooring at Manly for a night or two, and will probably explore a couple of other parts of the harbour in between.
Now I just have to decide whether to stay and spend a few days here in Jervis Bay or get back on these nice southerlies tomorrow.

Last time I was in Sydney, I used a free mooring in Blackwattle Bay, next to Darling Harbour near the fish markets and not too far to shops.

I just stayed at the RMYC Broken Bay and was impressed, $58 p/n

that is where I would be staying, free courtesy moorings close to the City and very calm water, Rose Bay on a mooring is soupy and rough

Cheers Bundeenabuoy, will keep that in mind when I get there. Will be in your neck of the woods sooner, planning on a stopover at Jibbon Beach on the way north in a few days. Might be a bit of lightish northerly weather as I come through though, what are the moorings/anchorage there like in those conditions? Too exposed or bearable?

Hi, Jibbon is good for anything from the north through to the south, mabee even a tiny bit of west to the south, moorings should be readily available through the week. If there is some north to the wind tuck up on the public mooring behind the headland. Oh and enjoy the trip.

Yep, thanks again for the tips. Will probably be stopping at all three spots south to north. Hoping I'll get enough enough of the right wind Sunday to head from Jervis Bay to Jibbon.

Yacht passed to the East of me this morning heading North in the Shoalhaven bight. Thought it might have been you but obviously wasn't if your leaving Sunday.

Current has dropped to zero now so you will have no trouble heading North. Plenty of marlin being hooked at the banks and wider. Listen out on 14 for gossip.
