Looking at a northshore 27, it has a very shallow bilge and I would like to put an automatic electric bilge pump. Maybe there is another solution for shallow bilges other than a normal pump.

Best bet is a Water Witch switch mated to the smallest rule pump.
www.whitworths.com.au/swch-waterwitch-mini The switch is expensive but you will only buy one. They can be mounted very low. Smallest rule so it pumps fairly slow in an auto set up. Have a larger rule wired in manually for dumping large amounts of water.
