Hey, What are the good Marinas in the Newcastle Area? . How are the berths in port Stephens?

Also, any marina that turns a blind eye if you live aboard, like one or two weeks a month?

Port Stephens has some public berths in the Nelson Bay boat harbour. Apart from that it generally appears to be expensive compared to many other places.

However, Soldiers Point has superb facilities, a courtesy car and friendly staff. They have two sorts/price points of moorings as well as the marina. I'm not normally one for marinas but the deluxe bathrooms, lounge etc felt almost decadent.

Yeah +1 for soldiers point marina. Great facilities and great people operating that Marina.

If you're looking for proximity to Newcastle the Cruising yacht club there also has great facilities, but I'm not sure how long term stays work on the marina...

Didn't go into the marina, but lake Macquarie is a fantastic spot and really close to Newcastle.

Marinas are sometimes a bit coy about live aboard, but I reckon most would be fine about 1/2 weeks a month. Be subtle when you're there - no washing hanging out and obvious when you're not.

Cheers

The channel into the Lake was pretty shallow a couple of months ago, so a Magpie may be cleaning the keel to get into there.
