I order mine from Formula Sailcraft in Melbourne (even though I'm Northern NSW).

Helped me pick the right ones from a good quality range and I found the pricing good as well

Depends what your after.
Price wise, if you just want cheap spectra or double braid, Whitworths is hard to beat.
If you want quality ropes with splicing work done then myself or Drew can help.

Austral Ropes in Mordialloc wind up braided ropes on site, including ordinary poly plus spectra-like ones. Unbeatable prices, but he's busy so best to go there, phone response is not so great. He doesn't do 3-strand.

Cheers, Graeme

Whoops sorry, you're in NSW so the petrol might kinda offset the savings! Handy for Melbournites though.

The time spent on the net hunting is well paid for by the savings one is able to achieve.
I ended up saving enough to redo the whole shebang with spectra just had to buy enough. Few mates pooling the purchase could make a meter of 10mm spectra costing 3.14/m which is better than 1/2 price of WW.

I never understood why people on the forum are not pooling the purchase of bulk items like ropes, chains, spectra or db lines?

I bought most of my staff from this mob while in Qld. and even ordered some on the phone.
They manufacture ropes for fishing vessels. Also make good S/S life lines etc.

After lots of googling, SRS in Kurnell, or Ropes Galour, just did most of my Running Rigging... SRS does a 10mm Dyneema/Spectra for a good price, probably not the best, however stronger than most probably need. From RG, got Donaghys in 12 & 14mm for the best price I had seen anywhere.
Maybe cheaper elsewhere for full rolls, however I did a colour coding arrangement so needed cut lengths.

Happy with all products, soft on hands, average stretch, good delivery and pricing

Sorry to be picky, but strength really doesn't come into halyard consideration on a cruising boat, it's all about stretch.
Let's say you have a S&S 34.
Take 12mm double braid, break of around 3000kg.
No way are you ever seeing even half that as a load but at half it's breaking strain, 12mm double braid will stretch about 5%.
