Hello everybody.
We are a french couple, leaving on saillingboat in st marteen (carribean), we would like to sail indonesia for 6 months.
What we propose is to exchange our sailling boat with someone in Darwin (2 choices, we have 2 boats: B?n?teau first 42s7 year 1995 or B?n?teau oceanis 361 clipper year 2000) we would like to exchange the same kind of boat (easier for everybody) for 6 month: we discover indonesia by boat, you discover carribean by boat and 6 month later everybody go back home, without crossing any ocean...
Does someone interest?

Hi
Pirated ? Indonesia is a litle bit like carribean no? Here, if you dont visit the politicly bad place (like Venezuela for ex.) you don't get any trouble, most of the island are safe for cruising, if you don't do stupid things. Of course if you just read bad stories you stay home, each year something hapen here, but we cruise a while and nothing hapen to us. our boats are full equiped for sail safely, hydrolic auto pilot, depht, wind, tactil GPS plotters and maps, books with maps and informations about each island, each hard current, and where to go during the hurricane period, just perfect for anyone use to navigate and leave onboard. We would like to find someone experimented (sorry for my english, i'm french) to navigate and leave onboard, like us (we sleep at list 360 nights by year on water) Piratery and hurricane are not dead here, but you can easily crusing safe if you dont go on stupid place at the stupid moment, and have good kharma with people of course. Not indonesia ?

facetious
adjective
treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant.

Im not sure if I'd do it, but the concept I suppose is the same as house swapping. What would the insurance companies say about it though? I know Club Marine don't specify skippers

this site in particular is notorious for attracting bored blobs that make stuff up for their own kicks. This thread is probably another one, hence my post. My apologies if im wrong but the internet is a place full of dreamers. 90% of posts like this arent going to happen. Id loooove to believe and trust everything people say in posts/emails to me etc but you just cant.

and ive pmd people genuinely offering help/exchanges etc and never get responses which probably means theyre all talk. Sift through any of these sailing sites and youll see multiple posts by dreamers whove decided they want to sail the world and think the first step is to post about it. They often get really good advice which involves them actually doing something and then the thread stops on their part.

No worries S/Steve. I got your humor (it's similar to mine). I was attempting a bit of humor myself but in doing so hopefully also pointing out to the original poster that your comment re piracy in Indo, shouldn't put him off (if in fact he is being serious).

i am too serious...im sorry. i really need to lighten up a bit for sure! very skeptical i am...I do want to change! ill start now!

Im soooo pumped to leave and start sailing north...just one last step to go...boats ready, im ready. Me house needs tenants.

TH are you just going over the top back to WA? youll probably be too far ahead by the time we get up there. I doubt anyone form here wants to meet me anyway based on my posts! Im a bit different in person :)

Virginie why dont you sail over? trade winds, south pacific and all that....geez...or pay a delivery captain, hire a boat etc etc...personally id sail over. youll have to leave right now though. As for pirates, NEVER let fear hold you back or anyone tell you you cant do something. Especially not me! id NEVER tell anyone they shouldnt do something unless it was absolutely the dumbest thing ever then it would be obligatory.

I would love to meet more Seabreezers. That's the main reason for the whole Burgee thing. My wife is flying the WWSA burgee and it has had us meet some really nice people. I have only met one seabreezer (that I'm aware of) and he is a top bloke. I hope he feels the same and we can get our families together on the water when I get home.

How far north are you going? I'm in Dunk Is at the moment. I've only been spending 2 or 3 days at stops then moving on. The Whitsundays was very quiet. The islands and mainland towns are doing a great job of getting on with it after Debbie. Dunk is still wrecked and derilict from Yasi. But they too are slowly chipping away.
I can highly recommend Monties at Gloucester Point, Horseshoe at Magnetic Is and Dunk Island if you are coming this far north.

So yes, unfortunately I will be too far ahead of you. It appears most cruisers are in Pancake Creek. Oh I forgot Middle Percy. An absolute must...

From Cairns, we will go TI to Darwin, then decide if we will go through the Kimberlys or up to Kupang and through Indonisia. That all depends on AMSA and whether we can transfer or boat Australia registration into our name in time (a long long, 90 day long other story).

Im not sure how far we will get before having to turn around. id like to get to lizard island but have a feeling we wont get that far.
Thats a shame about Dunk. i went there a while ago and it was sooo beautiful. Id like to get to magnetic island - been a few times. Want to see hinchinbrook also, the percys, Real keen on lady musgrave and that area, fitzroy reef. theres waves to be surfed around there.
As Kanakama says i will be just following weather, then about october turning around and spending more time in the northern parts of nsw, til about january.

What are they doing at Dunk still trimming the hedges! They where re-building about 4 years ago when I sailed through. Have you seen the owners private jet coming and going we where asked to re-anchor prior to his arrival!

Me too! I have already met quite a few of you, and made some really good friends. I think most of you know where I am on the East Coast, so I'd love to meet any of you on your way north or south. I have been working on going north this year. It is mostly all coming together really well, but it may be postponed again to next year, but when I go I will really go. Aiming at being able to go for at least 6 months.

Does my question was so stupid?
Just asking if someone want to swap boat for some months that it....
I dont want to go there with my own boat cause it's too far and expensive to cross Pacific oc?an for visiting only 6 month, and it cost 30.000$ to send a 36 feet from martinique to new caledonia, de have gold boats and our insurance is stilI good when we let our boats to someone else, so i just make a proposition, i was thinking that a forum was the good place for this kind of proposition. I was thinking we wasn't the only one to be in this situation aller around the world. Sorry if my post was to facecious with to much word....
I probably make a mistake by posting here.

No Virginie,

No mistake. It was a good suggestion I thought, and who knows, someone might be interested.

The thing about this forum is... last year, someone pretending to be a french female solo sailor, conned us into believing her very interesting story... conned me more than anyone.. I thought I had a new friend.
When we found out she was a he telling a tall story, it has made us very skeptical of newcomers.

Sorry.

Virginin, I wasn't refering to you being facetious, maybe that was the wrong word anyway.. I dunno.

Lady Jane took a lot of people for a ride, but it's time to shake her off. All new members regardless off nationality are welcome without intrepedation or ridicule.
