Need to check I'm right here...

I'm from NSW, but just bought a sailboat up in QLD. The boat has a Perkins 48HP inboard, but I'd say it would not push the boat faster than 6 knots. From what I understand, I don't need a boat license in NSW, as I will always go less than 10 knots. But I do need a license in QLD, because the engine is over 6HP. Is this right?

So I need to get a NSW license, just to use in QLD!?

Unfortunately you need a license in QLD as well as in SA and Tasmania. NSW is different (and easier in that respect).
I take our boat from Sydney to Tasmania soon and will have to get a license therefore as well...

I was under the impression that there was a time limit or something.... If your boat was registered in a state that didn't require a licence, and you traveled interstate then you had 3 months. Of course I could be wrong

Disregard, I was wrong. I was thinking of the WA RST.
