There is a really great Lotus 9.2 in Bundaberg with Red Velvet Upholstery and a great fridge that could be owned for a wee tad under $100,000.

You know who to call.

Hi Southace

I thought that would be the case

I was up in Hobart today wandering around looking at boats and there is a 43DS that lives there and the thing has acres of space in the cockpit compared to the Cavalier

Well Donk I don't want to offend anyone but I will express a basic view why I don't find attraction.

The hull seems round and tubbish and the interior seems basic and square. I guess it's just like women, we all have our different attractions to them!

This is possibly the best deal on the Australian market in the 40 foot + range unfortantly I can't seem to fall in love with it!

http://www.boatsales.com.au/boats-for-sale/boatdetails.aspx?R=23389490&Silo=stock&Vertical=boat&Ridx=24&eapi=2

You are in Cairns and the boat is in South Australia. It is going to cost you at least a couple of grand to go look at it.

So you go look at it and decide to buy it. Then what do you have to do?? Go back to Cairns and pick up your gear and lug it to S.A.?

It has not been photographed very well and appears quite sterile.

The vendor sounds a bit anal as well.

Pick up the phone and call him. See how far you can push him. Put him on ice. Make him fish or cut bait.

Or is it you that needs to fish or cut bait?? You have been procrastinating about on the forum for the last 6 months or more about this boat and that boat with excuses like "Selling like hot cakes." "Woulda bought this one but somebody beat me to it." "This is the right boat but he wants too much money."

Since you have started prattleing on about the ultimate luxury yacht you are going to buy, have you actually gone and inspected any yachts? Have you tried to negotiate a purchase yet??

It is getting a bit boring mate.

There are some of us here who do not have the big budget you claim to have, who have taken their guts in their hand and gone out and bought yachts and are in the process of getting them right. You seem to take delight in criticizing their efforts with your "Ha-ha" comments implying you are above doing such common activities.

What are you going to do southace?? Fish or cut bait??

Well that's a be prudent mister "lotus amazing yacht " who went out and brought a boat and now is spending all his time rectifying the poor maintance program that was taken out by the previous owner.

That's just the sort of boat I dont want that's why I'm not rushing into it and buying the first yacht avalible.

For your information I sold my boat and I'm living out of a bag at the moment.

What gear do I need to lug ? My computer, bag and wallet.

i work 6 months on 6 months off why wouldn't I buy a boat in S.A .

Couple of grand to fly to S.A I don't think so.....jetstar $195 one way. Been on that flight a dozen times!

Who says I live in Cairns? I live on the ocean...Cairns is a Port That I visit.

As for you
stating I criticise others on this site I find this quite a suprise. All I have ever done is give people advise and ideas. Which I believe comes from experience as I have actually completed a full restoration to a wrecked yacht.
p.s "haha" = laughing = jokes.

i don't own a house that's my choice. That's how I can put my life saving towards a boat... Not that it's really any of your business.
Wasn't it you the asked another member on here where he gets his money to buy his new boat?

ok fine if I'm boring you I won't continue .

Will leave it up to Crisco and his adventures on lotus 9 metre now....i think he's been missing all the attention.

Im done here!

Bom voyage

Don't cause fights at the bar, Cisco - it's supposed to be a friendly tavern.

If I was putting my life savings toward a boat to live on I'd be plenty effin discerning.

southace it going to be interesting to see the boat you end up with, having kept up with the posts.
Hopefully by Christmas?

Nothing wrong with watching anothers dream, keep us updated on the ones that get close.

I've bought 'the first boat I've been on' of it's type, twice. One without sailing it at all.
Pretty risky and stupid I admit, but it's worked so far, touchwood. Sometimes you just know it's the right boat?

New boats do not carry the extras second hand boats offer. AIS , Aus reg, gensets, water makers , aircon....etc you need to add another 50k that I don't have, remember now that the money you spend on a boat you don't actually get back when you sell it!....eg it comes with 10k off extras.... Oh ok well basically they are up grades and I'm not paying for them that's just too bad!

Hey guys I'd like to to say I miss sailing and as I watch the pirates of the sea I'm drawn back to these threads.

i remember Southace looking for the right yacht but not making up his mind, but hey what fun it is to shop.

i remember pointing out to Cisco that thick silver paint on the motor was hiding something, but hey it made it back to QLD
and now he gains the satisfaction of putting it right.

And I agree with crustysailor as money burns a hole in my pocket too and I just jump in, but lucky me it seems to work out.

so each his own for no two sailors are the same :D

Pretty much all of that silver paint has been scraped off now. Next steps are:-

Degrease with fresh water rinse.

Kill Rust rust conversion coat.

Kill Rust Primer coat.

Top coat with a lovely Hammer Tone Gold with Delicious Red trim.

I am having fun with satisfaction guaranteed. No grubby engine for me.

I didn't actually suggest you needed a tachometer but was just wondering if you intended to fit one
