Hi Rob,

Can't help you out about the Bonbridge 27, however I purchased a Pacific 27 in February this year from Batemans Bay and sailed it back to Port Stephens where i did some work on it. I ground the hull below the waterline back to the gelcoat and glassed and spots that were suspect or held water. I then resined the whole hull, (below waterline), and of course re anti fouled it. I had the mast removed and rigging checked by a professional, replaced ALL halyards. Put a 2nd battery in it, new exhaust system, motor serviced, removed old 27mhz and vhf radios and replaced with new GME ones. Replaced old car stereo with a new GME DVD/CD/Am/Fm radio with all weather outdoor cockpit speakers and two internal ones. I also installed a 17" GME flat screen tv and a digiset top box. (Get all the stations out at sea now). Replaced old autohelm with a new Raymarine ST 1000 tiller pilot. Am planning on doing the Whitsundays next winter, but am already thinking of a bigger boat. If your interested in a quality yacht with nothing to spend please reply. Two mains, furling headsail, no 4 storm jib, and spinnaker.

Thanks for the offer ollytheref,

I have looked at the Pacific 27....a little too narrow for a family boat...they sail well from what I have heard...the Bonbridge is that little bit bigger internally.

I sailed a Bonbridge that I helped build in Kit form from Sydney to cairns and they are a fine yacht that is capable of coastal Cruising and reasonably priced

Good luck on your search

Hi Sleek1,

If your interested, I would ask around $25k. I have'nt advertised it, cos my intention was to sail it North around April/May in 2010. However if your keen for a look I can email you some pics and see what you think. I see your from Vic and would be more than willing to help you/deliver/sail back for a free feed and a tot of rum. Im actually sailing to Broughton Island for the day tomorrow. Its only 9nm north of where I live. Google earth it, it's a magic place.

Hi,
thought i would buy into this conversation. Have sailed boats up and down the east coast. The bonbridge is fine, but the belly of the boat slows it it up under power and sail.
The Pacific is roomy and quite comfortable to live and travel in. If you want an ark, see moses and go on the bonbridge, but if you want to get there and in comfort, go the pacific.

It is the same old debate. People say "I don't want a racing yacht. I want a comfortable cruising yacht."

They do not know that any vessel on the sea less than 1000 ft long is uncomfortable. It is a fact of life.

So what is the next lowest comon denomitator of comfort???

Comfort for me is having the pick down before sun down, sucking on a rum, before chewing what comes off the BBQ instead of still being out there bashing it at 10 pm feeling lucky to have had a feed on a cup of "Fantastic Noodles".

Work it out. This is why ex racing yachts generally make the best cruising yachts.

A fast yacht is more FUN to sail anyway. And Joe Adams said that the faster a yacht is the safer it is. Go figure. Cheers Cisco.
