Hi
I am having the standing rigging replaced and noticed that the boom gooseneck is fairly worn where it attaches to the boom. I have attached a picture, does anyone know where to get replacements.

That gooseneck looks like it might only last another 50 years! Consider fitting or making a boom brake, that may extend its life a bit.

I replaced the goosneck and boom on our NS 33 with fittings supplied from Minter rigging. Most of the rigs on Northshore yachts were originally supplied from Allyacht spars in Brisbane as another possible lead .Yours appears that some aftermarket welding has been done as repair work and the holes (judged from the picture) also look a little oval shaped, indicating some wear.
Regardless, if you reuse your existing or purchase a new item, use plenty of Duralac to isolate the stainless bolts and the fitting from the ally mast to minimise corrosion.Regards C.R.

There is a new product available that will do the job of Duralac called Tef-Gel.

www.tefgel.com.au

Does not dry out in the tube and supposed to be not as messy. About $50 for a 100ml tube.

I would take the current one to a S/S fab guy and get the cheeks taken off and new ones welded on.

If you get a new one it is likely to have different hole spacing for the rivets, have the toungue on the gooseneck not the boom and/or make your boom further/closer to the mast.

by cheeks do you mean the two pieces which are showing wear and that connect to the boom?

Yeah, the cheeks go either side of the toungue. The pin passes through one cheek then the toungue then the other cheek.

They are always the thing to wear due to the forces on each side. If you get it fabricated the maybe get them strengthened with some ribs.
