I usually have my annual cleaning and antifouling done in the Sutherland shire.
Has any one tried a diving service which I hope would be a lot cheaper?

A diver might be able to clean the bottom but I think they might struggle to apply antifoul in the water

After a slip and anti foul I wait for about 10-12 months and have a diver clean it. About 4-6 months later he does it again, 3 months later one more and then she gets a slip and antifoul about two years from the previous one.
If I am doing a trip, such as Lord Howe this November when I did one last November, I slip MB for a few hours to do a thorough underwater check of keel join and rudder bearing, stern bearing etc. I still won't get an anti foul unless it obviously needs it when on the slip. After the slip I get the diver over a few days before departure.
I don't race MB but in truth I don't lose too much speed in between cleans. The propspeed prop needs a clean with a rag every few months.

Friend of mine is the manager of Dolans Bay Marina. he does some bottom cleaning. Give them a call and ask for Phil. Might not be keen to do it right now though. Another bloke has just set up business down here and he is prepared to travel.

I agree with MB. Wait until the antifoul is about 12 months. In my experience, once you start scrapping, you will need to continue with it. I was having to do it inside of 6 months though. It was said that my boat was moored in one of the two worst places on the Swan River for growth though, so it might be location dependent to some degree.

It cost me $125 on a 32' cruiser with twin stern drives. The legs is what took most of the time.
