Hi all.
May till October I'll be working my way slowly north from Brisbane to Cairns in my 35ft S&S/Chriscraft.
I'll then leave her for 6 months before continuing on in 2016.
Does anyone out there have any tips on a good place to leave a boat in Cairns? Approximate costs?
Thanks

Yorkeys knob Marina is the cheapest I was paying $500 per month for a 12 meter private berth.
Also you can try Bluewater Marina which is just up the creek from Yorkeys.
The cairns Marlin Marina is around $1000 per month and is its great to have the city on your doorstep, but the tide and flow through current when berthing.
The CCYC has a small travel lift and a good yard to work in...I do believe it maybe cheaper to leave the boat in the water as last time I enquired I think they have a flat rate of $70 per day!
jeepers I'm paying $250 per month for a 12 meter Marina berth now!

Yorkeys is priced per foot and Bluwater is per berth, hence is usually more expensive. I believe but never checked the pile moorings in Trinity Inlet are the cheapest option but are also exposed to all the wakes etc. They are also an outboard powered tender distance from anything. Gumtree occasionally has berth owners seeking tenants at good prices at both yorkeys and blue water. It may pay to advertise a wanted ad.

Thanks Southace, good info. I'll be away form the boat from October till May so will want something relatively safe.

Hi Slammin, thanks for that info. Pile mooring might be an option as I'll not be in the country from October till May. Maybe I could pay someone to go out and check on the boat once a week.

Piles are 170 per month but you have to move if cyclone hits. Yorkeys and blue water let you stay, but you still need to prepare your boat.... Talk to the boat broker at yorkeys for private berths I had a 15m for 600 pm but currently live on the piles
