Hello all Darwin yachties,
I am a landlocked southern Territorian who is keen to learn how to sail, with a goal of one day owning a cruising catamaran. I have played around on beach cats as a young bloke, and more recently completed a 2 day sailing course in Sydney (31 foot monohull), and a single day's sail off Adelaide on a 30 foot cat. Apart from that, I'm a total beginner. Would any of you be willing to take a keen desert dweller out for a sail? I would be more than happy to pay for your tutelage, and/or cover costs for the outing/provide the lunch/drinks etc.
I plan to visit Darwin from Thursday Sept 27th to Monday Oct 8th, and would love the chance to sail any day, any time, as many times as possible!!! I understand that planning ahead will always be subject to weather, but as I'll be doing the big drive up from south of Alice Springs, any indication of the chance for a sail would be great.
Please reply if you would be willing to help me out, or you can suggest how I could line up a sail/sailing lesson (unfortunately Darwin Sailing Club are not offering lessons at present).
Thanks very much and I hope to meet some of you soon,
jim
