I'm trying to find out which is the antenna connection for this old Codan 8121 HF radio. I don't have a manual for it and was kind of hoping some one does or has one that is currently operating. There are 2 terminals on the back, one is insulated the other is not.

Thanks LooseChange, I thought the insulated terminal was the antenna too but this radio has had the other terminal labeled as antenna and was wired accordingly. It has an inbuilt antenna tuner and I couldn't seem to get the antenna to tune for transmit but I was able to receive with it to a certain extent.

The crystals are in place for VMC frequencies where as VMW would be or may be better suited for the west.
It also has 2 voice only 4215 & 6215 distress and the old 2182 international
Plus a commercial fishing frequency and a 8174 bom. Yes a dinosaur but hopefully functional. I'm not sure whether the antenna label is a mistake and the thing was just hooked up incorrectly (antenna-ground mix up ,,,which wouldn't surprise me) . It seems to have played havoc on one of the keel bolts too. I will just swap the antenna and ground and see if it will tune.

Is the ground wire connected to a solid copper or brass finned ground plate under the water line somewhere ?

for a ground plane It has a sheet of copper folded into a strip that runs down the inside of the hull and is fastened to a keel bolt.
