The tricky bit is finding one of these in Australia. Not trying to be difficult here but the ultimate "Folkboat" is actually the Twister. The major limitations of the Folkboat have been overcome by making it larger, 28 feet versus 26. And there is one for sale in Australia at the moment in Queensland. Its a fibreglass version as well. Bit expensive but a nice boat. The major problem once you start looking at boats in this price bracket is the choice can be a bit daunting. Where do you stop, your looking for the sailing qualities and seakeeping abilities of a folkboat so you might consider a Nicholson 32 as well.
I was out sailing yesterday in my Currawong, nice day but a bit sloppy and I was thinking what a beautiful boat to sail this is and why would anyone want bigger. Pleasant motion, easy to handle, relatively fast. I personally would not be restricting my search to just long keeled vessels, plenty of classic sailing yachts out there.
