Just to let you know....I went to the Sydney Boat Show yesterday and saw the guys from
Propspeed, they told me they are producing a Propspeed DIY kit. I don't know if this is news
or not, but it was news to me.

Was the boat show worth seeing Sam?

I am not Sam, but no.

Amel 55, Italiayachts, Bluewater42, Bluewater Cygnet 20 and the Seascape 24 are the not so boring non -production yachts.
The production yachts are same ol' same ol' while the rest is just stinkboats, and corporate crap by the bucketload.

Seems like it is developing backwards as far as sailing is concerned.

The best value is Whithworth's 15% discount during the show.

I went to the show on Friday, lots and lots of (albeit older) folk with either lots of money or pretending to have lots of money, could not move around the Riviera and Maratimo section of the marina, alot of botox and mens brown rinse to be seen! ;)

Well, l was looking at sailing boats but if one is interested in the social aspects, the above report is quite accurate.
(some of those botox teenagers are outright scary. Why would one bother?)
Love the motto of the Ulysses Club: 'Grow old disgracefully'

Haha, the brown rinse set, yes OK. I agree with the same ol' same ol' sentiment, it seemed to me
that it's all aimed at the 'high end' market and the 'development' seems to be in looks, although I noticed
some models were sporting self tacking headsails and most lazy jack systems.
I like it as a day out but tend to spend more time in the shed with the stall guys. The new shed is huge.
I think the overwhelming 'corporate' aspect takes away any real 'mateship'. Still I suppose that's
what shows are all about, so no use complaining.

Went Boatshow yesterday , had two items I wanted to investigate , auto inflatable life jacket and small flexible solar panel
for Bimini and all I could find was two stalls selling one kind only of the manual jackets and one guy with a few solar panels ,
big disappointment in the two main Halls but best display of eye candy on the Marina , the best outside display Ive seen.
Don't like the new convention centre were you have to go up escalators to top hall then back down to another level to go down
to another level , might have been more room with this new set up but preferred the old halls on one level.

Just can't believe an international boat show and no big life jacket display.

The problem is the cost of a stand at these shows. The small distributors can not afford the floor space which is a big shame as there are a lot of smaller distributors with great products. EG. They would need to sell a lot of solar panels to recoup their costs.

If your question is about my offshore PFD as we discussed it at the Balmoral get together last year - it is a SECUMAR brand, fully adjustable auto-manual, 220N, with integrated hood, harness, strobe light and crotch strap, distributed by MOSS Aust. presently at the show.

As far as PFD's are concerned, MOSS is one of the better alternatives.
They are aiming at the pros with high quality products.

One flexible solar panel retailer at the show is RoadTechMarine.

Purchased crewsaver 290n with harness lights and crotch strap.
They actually have two bladders. Also got personal epirb to go in them.
Crewsaver had some guys on the rtm stand.
Like every year the boat show is good if you are purchasing if not it's a waste.
Also got 10% off the selden furler Joe Walsh is installing in 2 weeks.

Don't see the point of a boat show. It was beautiful on Pittwater today. 20 degrees and sunny as can be. Gotto love Sydney winters hey.

My wife would count a day at the boat show as a "boat day" so I'm not going to waste it looking at stupid motor cruisers.
