Dipping the ensign

Does anyone 'Dip the Ensign' these days or is it an etiquette long gone. I read somewhere that it was
one of the 'rules of the road' for all boats, but I've never seen it done and personally I wouldn't know
when to do it. Just interested.

It used to happen quite a lot - but since we got a longer flagpole, not so much.

always fun to do when passing a military vessel you leave it to the last minute then dip and watch them run to the flag

Haha....you're a bad man Boty.. Just thinking though boty, do they really run to the flag or
does the nearest Jolly Jack Tar give you the middle finger ?.

Just thought, I am still on the Reserves and senior to nearly all the current Commanding Officers. They can dip to me!
