Hi all,
I'm looking to make the cabin a little less noisy when under power.
Any suggestions on adhesive sound insulation? I've read good reviews about Dynamat but it is quite expensive.
Engine housing is a fibreglass forward cover and then wood paneling in the quarter berths.

I would advise to get thick professional insulation and steer clear of the thin stuff Whitworths sell. Mine is over an inch thick and is very effective, even with the engine in the middle of the cabin.

Its a pretty complex subject and I would recommend some research on line. The dynomat is really to stop panel vibration in cars. For a diesel boat engine you are looking for a barrier and panel absorbsion medium. The stuff advertised in the back of the Afloat magazine is a good start. The stuff that's about 25mm thick, foam with lead vinyl and foil. The lead vinyl is very heavy and this is why the stuff is so expensive.
