Last year I lost my Lightwave 38 cat, Arriba. I've posted here many times over the past 17 years about Arriba's travels far and wide, so it seemed only right to post one last time:

PS I'll be blogging about my new sailing adventures over at: blog.lightningsailing.com

Very sorry to read about Arriba's wreck, that is a horrible thing to happen.

I remember as a lad I did a bike hike around K.I. with the scouts. We were due to get back on the ferry to Adelaide at Kingscote and it was too rough for it to come alongside. It tried several times but had to give up and return to Adelaide after suffering damage.

I have always liked reading your blogs, but this one was upsetting for me. It is hard to think of losing ones boat that has taken you so far and so well. Our boats are our protectors and our brethren. To lose Arriba must be awful.

I hope you have good times on the water again with the Rapido, tris can be lovely sailing boats.

Oh gosh, that’s terrible. I know it doesn’t help, but condolences. At least some of her was salvaged and lives on!

The new boats looks very cool.

Thanks for the kind words.

It was horrible losing Arriba. No boat owner should ever see their beloved boat smashed on the rocks.

On a positive note, I'm excited about my new tri, Lightning. Most of my sailing is double-handed these days, so I'm hoping I won't miss all that living space.

Having just returned from WA, we're hoping to get up the East Coast next year.

Hi Scruzin,
Firstly, my condolences on the boat, that is every owners worst nightmare.
I would have been a mess and yet I never would have guessed you had that going on behind the scenes when I look at your posts on here.
But I also wanted to say thanks. I had a quiet moment and was reading some of your blog. I hope you don't stop writing, you write beautifully and it is not only a pleasure reading it, it has given me reflection on how I engage with the enthusiasm and sometimes mad ideas of the thinkers in the tech world.
So from just another anonymous voice on the interwebs, thank you very much.
