Some one might pick up a bargain if Four Winds is eventually sold though I suspect having sat idle for over four years with little maintenance after having been partially flooded the boat would cost a lot to recommission.
I think that this is yet another miscarriage of justice. I have taken some interest in this case over the last couple of years and honestly believe that his wife is innocent and the Tasmanian Police bungled up the investigation. I hope her conviction so quashed soon and the real criminals tracked down and imprisoned.
Boats that size owned by blokes that old often don't leave their moorings in 4 years! I looked at the boat on TV and was impressed, it's certainly a nice boat but I have no idea how Bob and his missus could have handled any of the gear. Bit of water in the boat is a problem if it gets into the engine but my mate had the water well over the dipstick in his boat recently but none entered the engine. It did contaminate the fuel tank though!
As to whether the guilty person is in gaol or not depends on what source is used for info. If the homeless person who lived on a yacht!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was responsible as 60 minutes implied, then he did a poor job on scuttling the vessel. I would tend to lean towards the coroner and the courts decision.
Most boat people could arrange a sinking fairly easy.
