Looking at replacing my top load fridge with a waco 2 way front door fridge. Looking at a new one from mygenerator for 999$.
Has any one got any recommendations the unit has to be a 40 litre size to be able to fit in the cabenet.

Might help if you gave the dimensions of the cabinet it has to fit into, Waeco are good fridges, as are Engel, though I don't know if Engel make front loading fridges.

Engel do make front door fridges, my newish one is 85 litres, it cost about $1700 new. It uses about the same power as a 40 L chest type. I also have an old 50 L model like those in caravans, gumtree is the place to go, the 50L cost a few hundred $. These fridges use the same bullet-proof 'swing' motor as the chest fridges, it has only 1 moving part. They also have a separate freezer section, unlike the chest types.

Jeez mate!! I would have sold you my original green 40 litre Engel for less than half of that money. It will freeze 2 ice cream buckets of water overnight and maintain well stacked contents frozen indefinitely.

No electronics in this one, just pure fridge that will suck your batteries dry if you let it. Nothing wrong with 30 year old technology.

Thanks for the offer cisco but my old fridge was working but it was a power pig. I started the distruction and it was a bigger job than i expected. As i mentioned befor dreamliner the compressor was working but power was the factor pluss the convenience of having a front door fridge.

That's a simular gally set up as mine , what is the amp draw on the new front loading fridge? Will your sink still fit above the new fridge? You may end up with a lot of unusable room where the existing fridge came out?

I'm looking at getting one of those $800 built in Engels to use as a freezer. My Waeco based fan plate fridge can't get below 5C, probably because it's oversized and underpowered. On my old 40l Engel, if I turned the compressor up to 2.75,, my cans of soft drink would turn to slushie. I think the boat has to be on a mooring for this to work.

Fridges work a lot better if kept full.

Great job.
Looks factory. I will be interested to hear how the power consumption goes for you.

I havebeen running the unit for 3 days now and the battery's have not been sucked dry. The old unit would have depleted the battery's by now. Ihave only had the fridge on a low setting and it is coming on to winter dont know if that makes any difference.
