does anyone know where we can get replacement yachts for our fleet of GP14s? Tried to track down suitable training vessels to replace what weve got and seem to have come up empty. Dont like the Puffins are they are more suited to racing than training. We looked at the Holders at Mounts Bay, perfect but cant get them. If anyone knows were we can get something along the same lines as the GP14s can they let us know.

All i can say is you must have the wronge impression of the puffin pacers? Unlike the GP14's (which were designed with fleet racing as a priority) the puffin pacer was designed souly as a training boat, this means it is incredibly easier to rig than the GP's, Smaller sail area making them more stabe, more solid to withstand collisions (creating a cheaper running cost), simple setup (only has 7 ropes whilst a GP has more then double that + a trapeze and kite). As for racing i dont believe ive ever seen one used in a fleet race? (and they are used in team racing becouse of their strength and stabillity). The only problem is almost every club have bought them as their training fleets so there will not be many second hand ones around.

If you still dislike them the closest thing to a GP i can think of setup wise would be a 420. Allthough they are much quicker they are about the same length, around the same sail area and have the cockpit set up moderatly the same, and i believe there are plenty of cheap ones around perth.
Hope this helps.

Puffin Pacers are certainly not a substitute for a GP14. They are lighter built, less stable, and less appropriate for training.

420 would be an even worse alternative.
