Hello Brains Trust, I have an old yacht and along the outer most edge is a rubber fender (90mm semicircle) running the whole way around. I want to use 10mm strands of hemp rope to cover this, each strand running in parallel. I saw this on some old yachts in the Med and it looked quite smart, also being hemp rope if it rubs against the docks I won't see any scuffing.
So I need a way to glue/attach the hemp strands to the rubber bumper. What does everyone think?
You could do a test on Ritetack (google it) it s an instant grab construction glue that we use for sign panels that have to stay up permanently. Not sure how it would go gluing hemp rope, but it's very sticky stuff, weather proof and uv stable.
This ritetack stuff sounds like a winner, other options were butyl tape which I read about in another post or using epoxy. I read up on ritetack and seems like the easiest option so I will try a strand with that and see how it sticks. Thanks guys. If it works I will post some pictures.
