Hey All,

I recently boat a 22ft Sorcerer, overall it needs quite a bit of work but I can't seem to find any information on the boat. And Hill and Cameron don't seem to be around anymore either.

There is some sparse info about the Red Witch but, nothing available for the Sorcerer.

Any suggestion?

One of my biggest concerns is the water in the hull that I can't seem to get out and the Centerboard has a ton of silicone around it, so it in need of repair - but I can't find any info on the boat.

I appreciate that its an old boat and there may be no info available, but if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.

My cousin owned one in SA years ago and they have always appealed to me. Most of the info comes from ads on Gumtree these days. Sometimes there seems to be a spate of them come on the market at the same time. Very few in NSW and they seem to be the fixed keel version over here. Dig deep for old sailing magazine articles.

The Sorcerer was a pretty popular and well performing boat in the 80s, usually Division 4 At Clubs. Many who owned Red Witches progressed into a Sorcerer.

They had their own State Championship events each year too at one point. Lots of well named boats like "Blue Bottle" "Rumours" "Golden Hind" "Solitaire" "The Magician" "Red Czech" "Utter Kaos" "Wildfire" and many more. Some excellent sailors around them too.

There were two versions, the Fixed Keel and the Screw Keel. Sounds like you have the latter. There was a handle that wound the keel up and down inside the cabin.
The Keel had extra ballast on its base for extra stability so it never fully retrieved into the Hull. It was also heavier than a centreboard. I assume the water has collected in the housing around the Screw Keel?
