Anyone know which marinas in Hobart can you live aboard your yacht at?

Not sure about Hobart but if you wanted to be a bit further south on the Huon I am pretty sure you can live aboard at the Kermandie Marina

I met some nice people sailing a Hereschoff who lived aboard in the marina right in the centre of Hobart. Kermandie has liveaboards (one or two) who work in the boat building yard. Very sheltered at Kermandie but over an hours drive from Hobart - close to nice sushi at Geeveston though.

Probably most. I know there are liveaboards at Bellerive (or were last I checked), Kings Pier, and DSS. MYCT and Prince of Whales Bay are probably options too. Not sure about RYCT.

Ok, I'm a rigger so have a fair bit to do with liveaboards at all marina's.
Prince of Wales - Well priced, no club fees plus 1 free lift out a year nearby. Very secure for boat and car. Don't like kids living on board, lack of parking for 1/2 of marina. Really need a car to get around.
Sheltered but do get hourly surge from ferry.
DSS, RYCT and Bellreive - Can walk to town, but need to pay club fees. Clubs on western shore can get a fair bit of slop. Secure for boat but car not so much.
Kettering - Chandlery and boat businesses onsite. Very friendly people. Colder than city though and 25min drive from city. Is currently pretty full but expansion on the way.
Margate - Only new so bit of a dust bowl. Pretty exposed in an Easterly.
Port Huon - Beautiful spot but lacks decent amenities. Long way to go shopping.
All in all, if you have a car, Prince of Wales or Kettering would be my picks, otherwise DSS or RYCT.
I'm not sure about the ones at the docks, but you'd have to vacate there anyway due to race boats over the NY period.

Kings pier is good as in middle of everything but moor bow to the wall due to the surge bouncing off the wall. Just have to move out one week a year. Ryct is good as short walk to sandy bay shop. If you not need to be in town go kermandie as soon as you leave the marina you are cruising

Also something to be aware of is when the wooden boat festival is on (feb 2019) the boats at Kings Pier have to vacate as well (unless you are exhibiting your boat)

We're visiting Kermandie Marina right now and it is delightful.
With a car, POW is fairly central, well priced, friendly, secure with lots of space - and you can potter down to constitution dock any time.
I think that the answer is that, unlike other states, any of the marinas allow live aboard - pick the one you like best.

I have to say that, for a student, that would just be the absolute coolest place to live. Do your washing at "Machine" cafe in Salamanca square, vegies from the Sunday farmers market and the central library as a study space.

Which campus is she studying at? DSS is just across the rd from the Sandy Bay campus, and I know a few students live aboard there. If she's in the city, Kings Pier is a better bet.

DSS is only a stones throw from uni, and a little further from the temptation of the waterfront and Salamanca bars;) Coles and Woolies are only a short walk too.
