I want to make some blocks. I have the teak (bought it years ago - who throws out teak?)
and need some sheaves and bronze rod. Anyone know any good suppliers? (Australian)
And for the curious, I have a beautiful 17 ft Ross Lilliestone designed sailing dinghy with a gaff rig.
Thought rope stropped blocks would look the part.

Good on you for having a go at making up some traditional blocks.

Having not knowing where you are located, Wooden Boat Shop in Sorrento VIC would be a good start for you.

There are a couple of others including Classic Boat Supplies S.A. and Wooden Boat Fittings ACT that may be of help.

DH Porter in Sydney are probably capable of supplying/making custom items as well.

Are you going to make up the rope strops yourself?

The 'Gaffer' sounds sweet!

Thanks for that.
Yes, I am going to make the rope strops. I will post photos of the finished block when I have done.
I am using an old book by Harvey Garret Smith for the plans.
I am also making some wooden horn cleats for stern mooring lines.
