Just aquired a hood 23 with no sails. Can anyone tell me what the standard sail dimensions are for this yaucht i.e. x metres by x meters?

Any sail maker would have all the details. If you intend to shop from eBay for suitable sails then taking the measurements off of your boat would be the easiest and best. Your boat may not have a standard rig.

Congrats on the purchase of your Hood, they are a great little boat!

A few years back I purchased a new main sail for our Hood from North Sails, and a new head from Rolly Tasker Sails. I think we had a standard rig. You could talk to them as they clearly have provided new Hood sails in the past.

PM me if they need my name so they can dig out the order.

Thanks for the input. Have gone with the measure the rigging idea. As stated it may not have standard rigging. It does however have a factory fitted lister diesel engine. Does anyone have any information on these engines? Have not yet had it going but it turns over freely and decompression lever seems to be working. There is a place for a starter motor but it has been removed so it's a crank handle at the moment

Just doubled the value of your Hood 23! I used to drive motor cutters in the navy that had 3 cylinder Listers. very heavy slow running units. Stick up some photos when you get a chance. I would like to see what it looks like. Plenty of old blokes about that get their jollies from old motors like that.

Excellent. I've looked after a few lighthouses and they all had listers. They seem to go forever.

Love those Hoods

Cheers
