I was foraging around youtube (as you do) and found this series of short film clips of a group of young people sailing their 53 footer around the Pacific and beyond. The footage from the earlier parts of the cruise are in 420P quality whereas the later footage is all in 720P quality and so much clearer and enjoyable to watch, especially the underwater footage from up around Indonesia. If you are on data limit then maybe go to someone elses house to watch as the complete download is just under 3.5gb.

youtube ..........

and their blog ........... svdelos.blogspot.com/

I have watched a couple of their vids before.

They must be dot com millionaires or have parents who are.

I am jealous but good luck to them. What they are doing is a great thing. If they have the money to do it, they should.

I was wondering about that as well Cisco, Amel Super Maramu's are not a cheap boat to purchase, even on the used boat market they attract a premium price. The other thing that struck me was how perfectly the boat is set up for cruising, when I looked at the web site it turns out the builders listen to feedback from experienced cruising folk and then incorporate the changes into the following boats. The sails looked particularly easy to manage with in mast furling and electric furling on the main and on the genoa.

As you say, good luck to them, must admit that I too am a little bit jealous of them for being able to do it now while they are young and fit rather than having to wait till they are old and broken like most sailors.

If you have a spare day, have a read of their blog....I found it more interesting than their videos even.
I don't think they are multi-millionaires or anything, I think they are a couple of smart, likeable American brothers, that are prepared to have a go. The eldest brother worked hard, started a business that took off, sold all unneccasary materialistic toys & had a determined focus to buy a top yacht & sail the world. They ( the brothers & the gorgeous crew they always seem to have), saved hard working multiple jobs in pubs/restaurants etc. They know they are lucky & seem very grateful for the life they have & that they are doing it while relatively young.
cheers

I agree with you BlueMoon that they don't seem to be overly rich, they seem to have their feet planted on the ground too firmly for that. It appears that everything they have, they have achieved with hard work.

If they have done it all on their own bat, I have total admiration for them.

That doesn't stop me from being totally jealous though.
