I tried to bring up the previous post about insurance but couldn't . Just wondered if any thing has changed . Im trying to get quotes now waiting for responses from Club Marine RACV Nautilus APIA Any I have missed? By the way morning every one
I don't miss my days of calling insurance companies. RACV were/are good to me. As well as the multi policy discount you get if you have car/house insurance with them. No claim discount after the first year was good.

Im still sorting it out hope to have some sort of closure today if I can Im waiting for RACV theres was full at $690.13 just sorting out the survey for them
May I suggest that before anyone hands over their money to this "insurance" company they do a really good google search on them. You will find so many tales of woe from all over the world that they are at best nothing but rogues and at worst they are thieves.
The boat was insured with Club marine for 25 years before I bought her To me $603.00 is not a bad price and I'm happy enough with that. you get what you pay for in this world . There maybe cheaper but Club Marine have a reasonable name
I think that should now read MOST, not just some Don. Insurance companies are becoming so picky these days as to what they accept as a reasonable risk that there is almost no risk whatsoever for them eg. no yacht moored at Callala Bay in Jervis Bay can get insurance.
"Oh no no no ...we've had quite too many of your boats washing up on the beach and getting broken and then having you expect us to bail you out."
I think in my case it cost around $100 more per year to insure my boat because it is on a mooring than if it was in a marina and if it gets damaged on the mooring there is a larger excess to pay
Just check carefully with some of these companies. Often the people you are dealing with don't realize or understand that your boat is on a swing mooring. They happily take your money and then later return your check or simply don't cover you and just don't pay up as in the case at JB that LooseChange refers to.
If your willing to send money to Europe to Edward William why not just donate it to me, coverage would be the same.
When you search Northern Reef Insurance there is a heap of information worth looking at before deciding if you would insure with them
I personally would be a bit concerned about any insurance company that did not require a survey before offering a policy and it also appears from reading some threads that the procedure is the owner pays for the repairs and then the insurance company decides if it will reimburse the owner
There was some comments that even if they won't pay a claim that some owners of boats that other insurance company's won't cover (old timber, ferro, etc) will insure with them to have insurance cover needed to enter marina's etc
You could try Baileys Insurance. I got a quote to cover me while doing a South Pacific cruise. The insurance mob wanted a survey and it was not cheap but still reasonable. When I tried club marine they wanted me to tell them the experience of the crew, who I hadn't, even found yet, so I was unable to fill I their form to their requirements. bit like taking to a brick wall. You can find a link to Baileys Insurance on the Island Crusing web site. It is sending your money over seas but the company the Baileys Insurance found for me came with a Loyds rating.
I am back with Club Marine after Nautilus stopped insuring boats on swing moorings. as someone said they have a name to protect so I have some confidence.
I worked in the insurance industry, the premium is not the important factor. Paying claims is. I'd suggest you think hard about any cheap premiums.
Club Marine charge me $1043 pa for $65,000 market value. It is due this week. They also offer monthly premiums, about 7% more costly than one annual payment.

i Figure you will get a claim done if you have one with club marine. The others probably do to but felt that the boat was with them previously and The hull only insurance is all I need for now as I have the masts off worked for me. Many thanks for every ones input it will help other seabreezes on here the up dates are all relevant
