Hi all.
Does it make any difference what time of the year you antifoul. I'm at Lake Macquarie near Newcastle.
Cheers.

Clean bum summer fun. My personal opinion growth slows a bit in cooler water and October / November everyone's on the slip trying to get cleaned up for summer fun. I like to slip march /April.

March or April is a good time. Basically anytime it's not too windy is best. The paint drying on the roller in strong Westerlies is a pain!

If, like many of us, you indulge in handicap racing, consider that fresh antifoul is one of the few legal ways to boost your performance without affecting your rating - and save the trip to the slip for the critical point in the series when you are in sight of the prize and just need to knock off those b******s who have beaten you for that pewter mug for the last three seasons.

Or if, like many others here, you have long pockets and short arms (to put it politely), try calling around the local slipways to find out what time of the year they are least busy and are prepared to offer you a discount. Then you can look forward to going to your grave bearing the epitaph 'He never paid retail'. The kids will be so proud.

I do it in September because it is starting to warm up then down here in Tassie and the anti foul is easier to apply and it is also just before the start of the racing season

a massive difference in how the boat feels with a clean bum

I always antifoul in September/ October every two years. The reason for this is that the first 6 months is summer and you have good antifouling, then 6 months of winter then 6 months of summer and then by 18 months the antifouling will be getting a bit thin and the prop speed will just about be buggered , so the last 6 months will be winter where the growth rate is less. Then the 2 year cycle starts all over again.
