Pondering how good these fridge freezers are. Has anyone had any experience with these units?
Any recommendation for other good quality fridge/freezer that is not too pricey for a yacht? Anything that actually cools and lasts as well
Looking for a size of 75 - 110 L and a top loader. Any feedback is appreciated. TA!

As usual, you get what you pay for. I haven't even heard of the make you refer to.
I bought a second hand 110l Engel in perfect condition for $900 off Gumtree, I use it in an off road camper trailer (and I mean OFF ROAD!)
Haven't had a problem and I would recommend something like that.

I have one, all good so far but have not had in on longer than one day yet. Brings the temp down in 1 hour. I think the compressor etc is the same as Engels.

I set up a solar panel/regulator for my brother's Waeco CFX35 Portable fridge/cooler.
He got the unit @ a BCF sale for apparently a good price.
Very impressed with its performance especially its efficiency - very little current @ 12V to maintain sub zero temperatures. Runs on 12V or 240ac, programmable.

allan

G'day Seebreasy,
I run an 70l Indel Isotherm fridge and have been impressed with it to date. Top loader, external compressor, quiet. Keeps things cold for ages, you can make it either a freezer or fridge by simply adjusting the temp. Unsure of what you consider expensive, it cost about $1500.
Power consumption is pretty good (300w/24H). A 400ah house bank , not doing anything else, will keep ice for 7 days without charging ( knock off a day or even two if you keep opening it all the time).
Cheers,
SB

Someone mentioned it has an LG compressor. Do not know if it is true, but it is reassuring to read that it works even for a day.

Well, cost is relative I suppose, but I like to be savvy. If I can walk into Harvey Norman and buy a large 400 L Samsung fridge for less than $800,
I do not know who has the face to charge $1500 for a refrigerated eski. Unless it comes with a year worth of groceries and some bells and whistles

You seem to have forgotten that anything that goes on a boat is anywhere from two to three times as expensive as an equivalent household item.

Does not mean I cannot try to be savvy. I wouldn't be asking about a Kenner fridge otherwise. Being cheaper not always mean shoddy either.

Can it just run on a solar panel or will you require a battery bank.
Consider cost and space. A bag of ice lasts 24 hours in the latest esky.
Just being the devil's advocate.

I cheaped out and got a 60l companion ran it 24/7 for 22 months before it failed, the danfoss compressor was actually a danstar. On the upside it was replaced on warranty with a new unit with a secop compressor and the warranty started afresh.

Boat has some deep cycle batteries and it would be better to keep these charged without the clutter of the diesel.

I don't mind the bag of ice, but my better half does. And we all know: a happly....
