Yes MB is on the market but, just in case she doesn't sell, I have booked a mooring for this years Lord Howe Island BBQ Rally in November. Havefun is up for it again. Back to Comets Hole for MB, unless a boat in North Passage pulls out.

You will have seen Ciscos report on last years adventure. Any other Seabreezers enticed to give it a go?

Since my old girl won't be ready, I'd love to crew. Or if MB sells, I'm fixing up my old girl, so you could come with me when she is ready.
She needs a lot of work, I could try hard for 2018.

I'm still keen... as crew on MB or with RANI if I get her up to scratch in time. 2016 0 2017. Secretly coveting MB

I would love to do it. I think Trek is up to it as well. New steering, rigging and sails fixed. I just need constant reminding so I don't let my day job distract me from the reason Ive got a day job!

Book a mooring ASAP. A Marzcraft in good nick with a couple of experienced bods onboard would make for a good experience.
The first quiet little drink skipper get together will be in June.

Don't count on me to go MB. I have far too much of my own shizz going on to commit.

For anybody else interested in a great blue water adventure I suggest you will have to look far afield to find a better yacht and crew such as MorningBird and HaveFun to sail with.

IF, and it is big IF, things were to fall in place over the next 6 months I might consider the voyage again under certain conditions, one of them being that I will be chief cook, bottle washer and more importantly victualler.

I had a coffee with Havefun last week. He is ready to go. I'm thinking this year might be two handed if Cisco isn't willing. A 3rd hand will have to be an offshore experienced sailor, preferably cruising. Not greatly experienced but someone who knows what it is like out there and can keep a middle watch on their own.

I cleaned the last bits on MB today. Sparkling internally if not externally.

Toilet was fixed last week when I finally got the new motor and macerator fitted.

I picked up the gearbox seal to stop the gearbox oil going into the bilge.

The budget is in place for a antifoul, fit the g/box seal (I couldn't be bothered), new forward hatch, sparkie to get the tacho going and replace the steaming light and, finally, replace the transom exhaust and bilge pump outlets to stop that minor but annoying leak.

I will need a hand to reseal a few bolts in the sheet tracks.

MB should be more ready this year than she was last year.

IF NOBODY BUYS HER.

Well I have to wish you the best of luck selling her but I also have to say don't hold your breath waiting for a sale but more importantly, do not under sell her.

Though I paid $30,000 for Second Wind I will be declaring her at $18,000 in my pension application which is about what I would get in a fire sale. Facts of life.

Nobody seems to be spending capital lately which is quite understandable. I just bought a beautiful 2004 BA Falcon Futura today for $3,000 with full history. Magnificent car which I am paying for out of cash flow rather than capital.

So I guess I will say this year as I did last year "Don't write me off just yet." I really did enjoy the trip last year even though that was not reflected in my mood or facial expression. Getting to LHI with every piece of clothing I had being wet was not in my plan. I will buy a water proof gear bag you can be sure but wet bedding is not to be tolerated. If I have to come down there a month beforehand to "Give you a hand." sealing those deck bolts, I will do it but you will have to let me drive the TR 4 a couple of times. That was an awesome ride.

HaveFun is always ready to go. He can't seem to get enough of it. Maybe we should take his yacht and he would win the trophy. Three times lucky and the first time on his yacht??

Cheers Cisco.

Cisco, I think you jest or have unrealistic expectations of ocean passages on small yachts! I can't recall ever having a totally dry bunk on a major passage on any yacht. The wettest was going to Southport on the Lyons 54 Kayle in 2014. No spray dodger so water everywhere in 40kt winds and waves breaking over the boat. On the 2014 LHI trip Havefun and I had 48 hours in a gale with no dodger. That was wet.
A few drips, usually near your pillow, is par for the course. Good wet weather gear are also excellent pyjamas.
However MB will be more watertight this year. The forard hatch and transom fittings are the priority as they were the main source of water on MB and must be repaired.

The latter is most likely. I can be a wimp at times.

Mate, you didn't wimp last year when the going got tough. Just expectations of staying dry when the yacht is pretending to be a submarine are a bit of wishful thinking.
