My insurance company requires a safety inspection by a shipwright. There is a requirement for a LPG gas compliance plate, which I have, but wondering if there is a renewal or reinspection requirement?
Can anyone direct me to requirements in NSW as I can not find anything other than for caravans.

If anything like an LPG car, the tank etc needs an internal inspection every 10 years. Just had mine done last year.

Michael

GAMECO
Parts

those are the two names one must know as far as gas and boats are concerned around Sydney.

Michael is very helpful and one can buy all the gas stuff one might need at Gameco in Auburn.

as I understand it once a gas fitting or appliance has been installed by a licensed gas fitter and certified its certified for life.
any changes ,modifications or alterations will require a new gas certificate.
the system still should be maintained and checked for leaks regularly with soapy water

Kurt, this seems to be the case.
In NSW it seems Fair Trading is the authority, seems a bit odd, I have emailed them for advice.

My understanding is that gas compliance certificates have a life and are treated the same as a caravan. Ie: If gas is installed a valid and in date compliance certificate is required prior to sale.

Case in point I'm fairly sure my yachts certificate expires late next year and will need to be recertified at that point by a plumber.

I have a reply from Fairtrading stating once certified that's it as long as no modifications and maintained.
Gas cylinders as we all know have 10 years also while maintained.
