I have 22mm flanged track on the top of my boom - i.e. it can take a bolt rope along the sail foot.

I want to attach lazy jacks to the boom without drilling it - it's currently unmolested and I'd like it to stay that way.

Can I use slugs - maybe with some webbing run through them? I realise they might explode if subjected to too much tension, but that might actually be a useful feature...

Yes you can do that but of course the main will have to be loose footed or attached with slugs also.

Thanks - it's loose.

My main is loose footed. I have used slugs fitted into the boom track to fit my sail bag and the lazy jacks fitted to the bag.
This is the first time I've used this approach and it's only been since November last year. Previous by bag had a bolt rope. So far I've seen no cause for concern using slugs.

I have the same setup - been on for 6 - 7 years.
