i reckon its easy as to do if you move around a bit. Lately ive been kinda doing it as i still work in Sydney but live 150kms away now.
Im a member of goget(carshare company) these cars are everywhere. As my jobs are in different places around Sydney, i can sail to say , Manly, drop the pick or get a courtesy mooring, Book a goget car in manly for 2 hours. Go to appointment. Cost me about $6 per hour to use car - free fuel.
Once im bored with manly and as work demands, i may have jobs the following day in the inner west, or epping way. So same again. Get an anchorage west of the bridge, or in blackwattle bay, or anywhere, like mosman, athol bay Book a car nearby (always within 0-10 walk)
Recently spent a week doing this. It was totally sweet. Manly has food, aldi, restaraunts and moorings. A bit bumpy with the ferry, but nearby is quarantine beach which is tranquil and quiet - also with courtesy moorings. beautiful water too. really clear with alot of fish.
Was a little worried about the times i left her at anchor, but ive never dragged yet. My anchor has always gripped really well.

Theres a guy with a big ketch in Quarantine bay near manly. been there for a few months. might have gone now. ill see on wednesday!

I have known a couple of people who have lived onboard in the harbour.
One was at cabarita marina the other was on a private jetty in Balmain. I also noticed people living onboard at balmain marina when I purchased my boat from there.
I am pretty sure there are people living in the hook in Black Wattle bay near the fish markets.
The ferals tend to be the one's in the pick or monopoliesing the courtesy moorings. If you are in a marina it would not be a problem. Sorry I have no time for people miss using the courtesy moorings they are their for all to use 24,hour maximum not some cheap skate to live on.

totally right. not into people using the moorings for longer. someone at barrenjoey did if for days at xmas playing their really **** loud music . i was cruising around and the guy didnt move at all the whole time we were up there. we spent our first and last night on the mooring at barrenjoey head, once at mooring once at anchor. this a hole was there playing guns n roses loud, both nights on his big cat....

The whole idea of living on a yacht is not all about travel, I still have to work at least 6 months a year to self fund myself and the yacht.
Living on a yacht gives you freedom that you don't get when living in a house.

It gives you the freedom to work or stay in a town for as long as you like and if and when your ready you can always just move on just by throwing the lines!

I will be selling my car when I return from overseas next month.....this is best felling that I no longer have ties to land and a departure date will be set in the near future.

i remember when I lived on the anchor in Airlie beach for 6 months when I first arrived marine parks where going around asking how long people had been anchored up........lucky for me I had only just arrived And never saw them again!

And why do you work? so that you can travel, and pay for the up keep of your yacht, so therefor living on a boat is all about travel.
