I have just bought a boat and need some advice on getting it from it's current berth in Scarborough (Qld) to Gladstone.

Ideally I am looking for someone who could sail it with me on board for some of the way. My time is limited to weekends and I am not confident enough to sail her myself. I realise that wind direction is potentially severely limiting but I would like to try to avoid motoring if at all possible. That said I want to get her here by 22 December.

She is a 27 foot Junk Rigged displacement cat boat: http://m.yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/shannon-pocket-cruiser/120289

I can't believe you japs. Did you not see my ad???

You are so close to me philosophically and geographically and did not talk to me.

I am dead set pi55ed mate.

You should have my number but if you deleted it PM me and I will help if possible.

Really? $10,000 spent on it? The ad says the mast needs re-rigging and the boat painting, well there is at least $10k before you rip out that terrible interior and start again and that doesn't even go into sails, replacing the winches with self tailers ot ropes!

Look the S&S are a great yacht but that one in the ad needs at least $30k spent on it to get it to the sort of pristine condititon that the yacht this bloke has brought. Not a massive fan of junks but what a sweet little boat!

You could spend $100,000 on it if you wanted all the whizz bangs and you want to pay someone to work on it full time for the next year to bring it to as new condition.

The quote from Lambourne rigging in Brisbane was less than $3,500 but let's call it $5,000 for the sake of arguement.

Doing the work one self and spending $10,000 on it will result in a very nice yacht with a great pedigree.

Congratulations on your purchase Don. She is very pretty and the price is very good.

Happy sailing, fair winds and following seas.
