It seems the mounting bolts on my new engine tend to loosen. I have spring washers on most but not on the ones that are
too close to the web of the bracket ( there are eight bolts in total ). The engine is mounted on hard wood blocks. Should I
use Loctite ??.

Absolutely! Same happened to me. Loctite was the solution.

I'll be going to the boat on Saturday to put Loctite on the engine bolts. Does Loctite work immediately or does
it need time to ' set ' ??.

Hi Sam, according to the TDS it sets in 10 mins and cures within 24 hours. Are you wanting to do the application and then go for a motor?

Yes 2bish that was my intention. If I motor first I have a hot engine to work with. I might just have to do that though.

Once you have 'set' the bolts don't forget to check your engine alignment

nswsailor, every time I re-tighten I look for any vibration that suggests an alteration in alignment....nothing yet.

Sam, that's not good enough, you will have to get a proper realignment done.

Do NOT use permanent Loctite!

Use the blue stuff!
