I too was wondering about that, I'm thinking of using the beach there again for my anti fowling as the tides are at that time. I'm in port stephens where its a marine park so its a no paint area! I guess you would need to use the marina as the anchoring is tough there!

Dezman, I find it a little strange that you love the seagoing life so much, yet you're prepared to pollute it by beaching and cleaning your hull.

Here is some reading for you. www.environment.gov.au/archive/coasts/pollution/antifouling/code/pubs/code.pdf

I can't find who 'anzcce' is! It's a code of practise which sounds impressive but its not law. Iv checked and follow all guide lines regarding beaching and paintng my boat MichaelR. And I'm within my right to do so. As for the environment boats are very bad indeed! So are cars and the burning of fossil fuels and I admirer anyone who at least tries to reduce their impact on this small planet. I could give many examples of what iv done and so could you I guess in helping the environment.

The Australian and New Zealand Environment Conservation Council (ANZECC) was a Ministerial Council operating between 1991 and 2001. ANZECC provided a forum for member governments to develop coordinated policies about national and international environment and conservation issues.
ANZECC was replaced in 2001:
natural resource management matters were moved to the Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council (NRMMC)
environment protection matters were moved to the Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC)

Just for the record

I believe that there will be NO fireworks at midnight in Newcastle, the council has decided to spend / blow it all at 9pm so dont be late.

Some thing about it being for families, prob more about trying to get the drunks away from the foreshore.

I'm of the understanding that you can't scrape paint (old anti foul) into the water....hull cleaning is offered in marinas by diving company's around QLD.....I also think you are to be responsible in retrieving scrapped barnacle matter from the area..... this has always been a hot topic over past years and never any real answers resolved.....I dive my hull!

Everyone has an opinion southace but few look into it, 'leave only clean water in your wake' deals with NSW. I'm not sure about QLD, but there will be rules if you look.
Thanks for the heads up craig66 I must do some research on it.

If you can say you take every single minute piece of scraping from your boat off without dropping any on the sand or in the water, and when painting, don't spray any over spray or droplets in the water or on the sand, then good luck to you.

I'm not saying that and I don't have to be that careful michaelR if you read the rules you will see they allow a small margin of spill. If you think slipways are spotless then your not looking. Now if you think your environmently friendly I bet I could find fault around your home etc.now get off your horse and stop ruining this thread. Use heavy weather to protest against people that don't measure up to you!

What restrictions are there to anchoring in Newcastle harbour? Obviously I don't mean in the channel but what about along the edges and inside the little bay at the dog park pr paint at Stockton in front of the caravan park?

It's a good anchorage off Stockton and I move up to the bridge if there is a bit of Southey blowing.
