Hi!

I’m a 24 year old Dutch student, graduating in May and looking for a sailing job/ experience for the months june &/or july in Australia or the pacific somewhere.

I have only a little experience in sailing but willing to learn everything necessary, getting licenses, taking courses etc. I have a lot of experience in hosting and work within the tourism industry. I speak Dutch, English, French, German and a little bit of Spanish

I've my diving open water license, first aid, I’m a good swimmer and most important I have an enormous heart for the ocean!!

Other info about me: I’m a happy, creative, relaxed, reliable person, love wakeboarding, kitesurfing & everything that has to do with the ocean!

Please contact me if you need a crew member/ sailing mate!!!

Thanks, Suzanne

Suzanne, Good luck with your search. Not all sailors / seabreeze contributors are sleazebags like the first two replies to your post. Don't be put off by them.

You dirty b.....................s,

let the girl alone.

She just wants an honest sail. Really don't think she'll get the dry, black Aussie humour.

Hey Suzanne,

If you want an easy way into sailing round fiji islands and Australia ..

I suggest you first go to NewZealand where the real sailing is done.

Not a huge percentage of aussies are helpful in the yachting industry..
You will find that NZ is an easy way to get a sail.

I suggest you head to Auckland, NewZealand. (City of Sails)

You will love it, EVERYONE IS friendly. Unlike Australia. Where there is a high percentage of arseholes!! and they wont help you!!!

In May, the Auckland to Fiji race is commencing. There will be a tonne of yachts needing crew! there is a racing side and cruising side. You choose, as there will be cruising round the islands and deliverys back to NZ in both racing and cruising classes.

Best going with a NewZealand skipper ;) some of the best in the world!

Good luck!

That is very good reply. God there are some arseholes who write some very unhelpful ****, you guys that write **** may be funny having a laugh in a bar with some beers, but when someone asks a proper question, answer correctly or not at all. The girl has little/no experience and needs help.
Good luck Suzanne, NZ is the better bet, bit more helpfull, you will find Yatch. You can always go kitesurfing in Fiji or N.Qld.

Cheers

Hello,

I'm not sure if you want to race or cruise yachts? But if you want to race in Australia, either go to Sydney which has a wide range of dinghies, and has the best keelboats in Aus. But keep in mind Sydney also has the biggest ego in the country. Either that or go somewhere in Queensland (Townsville, Hamilton Island) which are lovely locations that have their racing season during those months.

I'm a true blue Aussie and do take offence to some of the sledging you guys have posted, as in fact the Aus sailing community as a majority are the friendliest and most down to Earth Aussie's you will come across, of course there are a few that seem to run amok.

However, I do agree that for Yachting, New Zealand is where it is at, they have maginificent training programs and a birlliant yachting federation, unlike Aus which does **** all for us sailors.

If you want to do cruising, possibly look at cruise companies in the Whitsunday's or somewhere like that who run lots of tours aboard yachts, you never know, they may be looking for an extra hand over the busy months.

Rgds.
