If you need to bulk out the "barbed" elbow connection, grab some of the pink or better still yellow gas teflon tape. Wind it around as many times as you need to get a better fit. Maybe use the heavy style clamps and not the utilux style radiator hose clamps you have there. The heavy ones are an industrial single band of stainless that gets done up with a hex socket and would be better on that style of pipe that is ribbed and looks like a vacuum style hose. Don't crush your plastic fitting though. Another way is to dip your hose into a jug of boiled water. Much easier if you are trying to expand it though.

Get a pair of multi grips....and gently squeeze them on the flat section of pipe behind the barb all around to provide a little bit of "tooth" if using silicon or tape.

Cannot seem to stop this leak from the discharge elbow on the toilet even with 2 clamps done up as tight as I can get them. I noticed that the 38mm hose slipped over the discharge elbow too easily. Elbow is 38mm according to the manual but because the hose is soo rigid I don't think the clamps are taking up the slack.
Any ideas on fixing this problem, thought I could use silicon, but there must be a better way ;)

That plastic reinforced hose you are using is terrible stuff to work with. Very difficult to even get a 90 degree cut off the end using a hacksaw.

It has very little compressibility when clamping onto a barb even with two clamps and you should nearly always use two clamps.

The yellow on the outside, black on the inside hose is good to work with as long as bends are not so sharp as to make the hose kink.

I recently replaced mine and I used this type of clamp instead of a worm drive clamp




When you buy them you need to know the exact outside diameter of the hose as each size clamp will only work on a 3-4mm variance in hose diameter

I had enough trouble getting that hose onto my tmc and holding tank had to use direct heat (gas) it's a real pain to get the hose of when (if) I get a blockage. It seems amazing the different tolerance between two different toilet fittings.
