I am doing the Insurance company runaround.
I have never made a claim.
Apia terminated my policy after being insure for six months. They do not insure anyone on a swing mooring and I slipped through the system.
Club Marine said my 1986 Swanson does not meet their criteria. A combination of mooring area, age of boat etc. I had a Club Marine Insurance Risk Evaluation signed by an authorised shipwright but that did not 'cut the mustard'.
Even thou I have another on boat on a swing mooring in Sydney harbour insured with NRMA they would not insure my Swanson without a Surveyor's current survey plus a $2000 excess.I am considering New Wave Marine but does anyone have experience making a claim?

I recently changed to New Wave after QBE decided in the week of Christmas last year that they needed a survey done prior to my policy coming up for renewal on Jan 6. Given I was in Tassie and they wouldn't give me an extension I had no choice but to find a new insurer and New Wave were the only policy I could get without a survey. Plan on changing eventually to save some money but the cover was easy to organise and they seem like an ok short term option. No claims experience though sorry, and hopefully it stay that way!

Yep
No drama at all paid up quick I had a $1000 excess though on claim to my dinghy and motor that came to grief while towing
Lots of questions and forms but was relatively easy
Being in TAS around Christmas time they didn't even send an assessor
Was very pleased with the outcome

After reading the policy disclosure statement I have decided go with New Wave.
I send a question in by email and received a helpful callback later in the day.
They are backed by Lloyds of London I think.
Happy so far.
