So I'm looking at Halvorsen 1957-1968 models and found one in QLD. I thought, what a great idea to sail the boat from QLD to VIC as a good test of the boat overall. But then questions entered my mind like:

* How do I navigate along the coast without getting marooned on a reef, in the middle of a large-ship shipping channel, etc?
* How do I find and plan my fuel stop overs?
* What are the options in case I get stuck at sea?

Thanks.

Not being critical but judging by your questions hire a skipper.
Very approx cost would be around $15,000 incl fuel .
Aside from your Ocean Going Skills you need to know what navigation aids are on board to start with.
Daughter and son in law motored their Riviera to Sydney and back a few months ago . Planned stop overs every night with longest leg 6 hrs. at approx. 15 knots. Stayed in port if weather a bit dirty or over 15 knot winds.

Possibly getting a simple recreational boat license is a good start?

Call me a cynical old fart, but first post asking questions that a school student would know the answers to, with an approach that can only lead to disaster if it is genuine, I fear someone is having a good old fashioned troll.

I have a thing about making violins. The makers forum I subscribe to recently had a question about what sandpaper to use in refinishing an old instrument. People can have an odd sense of humour.
