New to forum and just searching for some helpful information
Looking at purchasing,
can anyone tell me pros, cons?
What to look for or look out for.
Reputation for sailing distances?
Thanks

My neibours have one....I can actually see the old compass lines in the deck just a slight cracking in the deck laminate .....other than that it has a genset, aircon and a lovely rig set up I would estimate his at around 70k although without a survey I couldn't speculate on that price due to the state of current market.

i had one for 7 years and it was a great boat.
but it did have a new motor (50 hp penta ), new epoxy hull (there are issues with osmosis on olympic 40), and a squillion bucks put into it before i bought her.
they sail very nicely with a balanced rig. depending on the rig its definitely capable of sailing anywhere or being upgraded to do so. the new owner of mine is in the NT taking out all the trophies he chases. lucky dog.
watch for the deck separating and delaminating. the odd loose shaft bearing (the actual sleeve through the hull at rear)? every boat will have its own problems though.
very easily sailed single handed and have done so many times. lived on board for a year while sailing with my family of 3 and found it comfy.
Third Man used to be a Cronulla boat and sailed very well also. i think she took out a few good races too. i didn't know she moved to newcastle.

if she's in good condition you could take that anywhere.
you will find it a little dark below deck but thats a compromise on having fewer windows through the deck and hull making her more capable of sitting out a blow lying ahull.
you should definitely be able to knock off a bit on the price.

She looks to be very well set up. Monster shower and head.

The head sails set up is excellent. Very workable for all weathers. Is the inner stay properly braced below deck??

Make sure you get a very thorough survey done as there are many boats damaged by floods in that region

Have a survey organized.
The boat wasn't there in the floods.

They are fairly much all gone now. I don't think any boats that were in the Port Marina got damaged. I could be wrong though.
