Would you say it is a bit under powered?

I would say it is overpowered. I had a single cylinder 4 hp Mariner on the back of mine that pushed her along at 7 knots no dramas in smooth waters.

It was a short shaft though and with any sort of chop or going forward to anchor it would cavitate. The 8 hp on that yacht is too heavy to manage easily and too heavy for the yacht if you are going to do any racing or just want to sail fast, which I know you do.

Was thinking of the size of the sails!

If it has the standard size sails for the Wildfire it should be just right. The main is fairly large for these yachts and has a bit of roach in it.

Due to the mast being well forward, in front of the dagger board, the head sails are understandably proportionately smaller.

They sail really well. I had mine out in 25 kts + with full main and header beating to get home. I just squeezed her up in the gusts and kept sailing.

Off the wind with the dagger board up they get up on the plane.

Sounds good Cisco, I am looking at racing with small crew................ maybe no crew , I like to go fast! maybe she is what I look for, I am single at he moment (yachtless) looking for a nice comfy and fast (racy?) yf (yacht friend) I had a look at that one as well http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/esperance/sail-boats/seawind-24-catamaran/1102455822 it is only 400 k away (I am staying in Albany for a while) maybe go for a weekend and have a tyre kick!
Will have a look at the Wildfire next week as I am going to Perth for a seminar.

Well the Wildfire is not going to be as fast as the Seawind, that is for sure. So it is a matter of you going to "The Dark Side" or not.

You had a Farrier Trailer Tri as I recall. What happened there??

I sold the Farrier, was a great fast boat was club champion wit her! at the end got tired of fixing holes in the outriggers, was made of ply wood and the jetties at the ramp next to the club are in very bad conditions with lot of sharp edges, she was so light it was near impossible to get to it (cross wind) gently.
The Wildfire price has been dropped to $ 5900.00 I will have a look at her next week and make a very low offer and see!

Looking at the pics she has 2 fore stays, could be possible to install a stay sail (cutter type of rigging), would that be a good idea? Reading some posta bout her I believe the jib is small?
