As before, new to the sailing, I am planning a trip north to Qld in a few weeks,
Leaving Port Albert
Lakes Entrance
Gabo
Ulladulla
Sydney
Newcastle
Port Macquarie
Coffs Harbour
?
Have fitted Life raft, New Plotter, AIS EPIRB, safty line VHF 27mg rigging, motor, and sails all checked out OK (36 S&S) draws 6'10"
Would like to have contact with others doing the same or at any of the above ports.
Any advise would be most welcome
Not worried about the sailing, but entering new ports is a little worry
Thanks

Lexmark,
Are you planning mainly day sail coastal cruising or offshore.
I recently purchased a boat in Newcastle and am heading North, eventually around to Perth.
I have done mainly day sails but Obviously that can't last. I am almost entering Mooloolaba as I am writing this and will be happy to let you know some of my experiences.
NSWsailor will advise you to call into Camden Haven and I agree with him, very happy with the guys at the Boatshed there.

Hi Riffraff
My plan is to sail both day and night (solo) as to enter ports with good water and daylight
But as I said would like to meet as many along the way as possable
Perth that would be interesting trip, are you doing a blog ?

Better add Greenwell Point to your itinerary after Ulladulla. Hope you have a good VHF. Monitor the professional fishermans frequencies as you progress North for gossip. Ulladulla 72, Greenwell Point 14, Kiama 72. Navy 69.
I run a Facebook page for local yachts as a means of contacting them, just type in Greenwell Point Yachts. There is a phone number there.

Lexmark,
skipr.net is the free tracking web site based here in Aus.
Allows you to post where you are and leave a small message.
Also provides a message area.
You need Google Chrome or similar to see the maps now.
I find its a good site as you can see others approaching you
as well as finding their blog sites which stops the itchy feet while siting at home!
I have also used it to monitor the actual weather conditions ahead of me.
I used it last year when heading off to Tasmanian to discover that I had left it to late [Jan] to head south.
Should have headed down in Nov/Dec of 2012.

I did
Newcastle to Port Stephens only because it was my first day on the boat and a short sail suited me. Bypass Port Stephens in my opinion.
Port Stephens to Camden Haven, Day sail Camden Haven was great.
Camden Haven to Coffs Harbour. also day sail but a long one.
Coffs to Southport, Too many hoons in Gold Coast seaway
Did inside from Southport to Morton bay, Morton bay is Shallow and think it would be uncomfortable in heavy weather
Peel island Morton Bay to Mooloolaba, long day sail but Mooloolaba is magnificent
Mooloolaba to Great Sandy Straight anchored in Gary's anchorage as I am writing this.
Plan is Bundaberg tomorrow then Gladstone where I am working for the next six months.
Wide Bay Bar was no problem but I can see how it could get ugly in certain conditions

Riffraff, just missed you. We went past Garrys yesterday afternoon arriving in Bundy last night. Entering Bundy was the most difficult entry of our trip and it isn't a bar??
Cisco will tell the full story of our trip from Lake Macquarie to Bundaberg on Second Wind but for me it was a bloody good week with two blokes I hope to sail with again.
