Hey all,

Thought a few of you smaller boat sailors might like this....

On my Etchells (sailed mixed fleet so it's basically a day sailor) one of the ears on the boom that holds the spin pole was broken when I got the boat. Now OD Etchells keep the pole on the deck cause they always do port roundings, but mixed fleet club racing we set all sides at anytime so I had to fix.

I didn't like the riley ears that were on it as when you drop the main, no top lift and they tend to scratch the deck. I have used PVC pipe before but it breaks pretty easily and still hurts the heard and deck!

So, working for a place that sells hose, I used some of this grey heleiflex PVC suction hose

Cut 45deg angles on it and riveted either side, worked a treat!!!
Posting cause it would have so many uses on most cruisers for holding alot of stuff, it lasts years in the sun, is cheap as chips, is hard enough to hold weight but soft enough not to damage things, and being grey (you can get blue or red too) it doesn't stand out like dogs testicles either!!!
